Dr. Jeffrey Gerken completed his medical school training at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He then went on to complete a general surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital- Farmington Hills, Michigan. He performs all aspects of general surgery including breast and colorectal surgery, hernia repairs, oncologic procedures, and endoscopy. Upon starting with Oakland Surgical Specialists in 2009, he began focusing on minimally invasive surgery. He is one of only a few surgeons in southeast Michigan trained in Davinci robotic surgery including single incision robotic cholecystectomies. He is actively involved with training residents and medical students from around the country and has served as the assistant program director for William Beaumont Hospital- Farmington Hills’s general surgery residency program for the last 3 years. He serves on various committees in the hospital and is focused on patient safety and outcomes. He is board-certified in general surgery and recently received the distinction of Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
